About the Candidate: Steve is a US Army veteran who spent most of his life in Avon. He is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a BA in Communications and Marketing, and a former small business owner of The Hunt Insurance Agency, which was recently sold. Steve has over 30 years’ experience in the Insurance Industry, specializing in life, accident and health insurance products. Prior to establishing his own agency, Steve managed a sales team in Cleveland, OH for 3 years, where he collaborated with insurance agents to provide them with competitive and creative solutions for their clients. After graduating from Avon High School, Steve served four years in the US Army as a tank crewman, and continued his service in the National Guard as a combat engineer while he attended college.

Steve served four terms on the Board of Assessment Appeals, including the last term as Chair. He was also the Vice-Chair for the Avon Republican Town Committee for 10 years, and, along with his wife Laura, is a volunteer for the Avon Historical Society.

About the Candidate: David and his wife Deborah raised their two daughters in western CT, where they developed close family relationships with a deep appreciation of nature, a firm commitment to lifelong learning and meaningful connections with community and civic life. They were thrilled several years ago to make Avon their home bringing them closer to their church community and their family where they make a positive impact in the daily lives of their four grandchildren. Both enjoy living near Avon’s civic center and its wealth of cultural, commercial and natural resources with easy access to the Farmington Valley Trail (FVT) and river for hiking, biking, kayaking and meeting other nature enthusiasts.
David is running for the BAA because he believes what takes place in local government really matters. Avon officeholders are the first-line representatives of every community member. We are charged with the responsibility of safeguarding the public trust. Having served for two years on the BAA where he previously lived, David learned that community members often find the assessment process confusing, and view the high cost of living to be especially burdensome for single parent families and those on fixed incomes. Unfortunately, community life in Avon in 2025 is strikingly similar.
While living in Avon, David serves as a poll worker, a member of the Avon Community Emergency Response Team, the Avon Lions Club, the Eastern Region Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services, the Capital Region Medical Reserve Corps and the Lower Farmington River and Salmon Brook Wild and Scenic Committee. He is a Trail Ambassador and member of the Farmington Valley Trail Council. David is also active in his church serving as a community group leader and a member of the Standing Search Committee.
